The Technology Behind Proclear Multifocal Toric Lenses
Proclear multifocal contact lenses by Coopervision are disposable lenses made for those with presbyopia and dry eyes.
These lenses correct both astigmatism and presbyopia making them ideal for aging eyes.
The new Phosphorylcholine (PC) technology, patented by Proclear (a division of CooperVision), allows you to switch to contacts and still have crystal clear vision in total all day comfort.
These lenses use both PC technology and their Balanced Progressive Technology to correct for both presbyopia and astigmatism.
The Balanced Progressive Technology uses two different lenses layered on top of each other to provide clear vision both close up and far away. This allows these unique contacts to correct eyes that would otherwise need bifocals or even trifocals.
This layering technique provides the sharpest image possible by correcting the dominant and non-dominant eyes independently and focusing light toward the back of the eye.
This new correcting technique layers correction to all three different types of vision unlike altered mono vision correction lenses, which only correct for far and near.
These are also made from biocompatible material, which allows the contact to accustom itself to the environment of your eye and stay hydrated.
PC technology mimics the membrane found in eye cells to draw moisture around itself to combat the discomfort of dry eyes. The material is also porous, letting oxygen flow naturally into the cornea encouraging the eye to produce normal moisture levels.
These are also ideal for presbyopia sufferers. Many suffer from dry eyes and increased discomfort from wearing contacts. If you have tried contacts before and found them so uncomfortable that you never did get accustomed to them, then perhaps Proclear may be the right lens for you.
These soft, disposable lenses are the only ones on the market today that are allowed by the FDA to include “may provide improved comfort for contact lens wearers who experience mild discomfort or symptoms relating to dryness during lens wear”, on their packaging. No other contact lens offers the comfort and corrective abilities of these multifocal toric lenses.
